Yellow is the new yellow
Yellow and white. Two colors. Two light colors. Two light colors that have dozens of slightly different tones.
That might seem nonsensical—but when it comes to plastic colors, it poses a real problem.
At TruScale Models, all of our products are produced with Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology, where filament is heated up (200+ °C) and then extruded through a tiny nozzle. This technology allows us to model those tiny details and leverage multiple colors in one design. But it also means we rely on consumer filament manufacturers. Over time, filament batches can vary slightly in color. Deeper, darker colors like blue, red, and black are rarely impacted by small changes in plastic formulae, but for lighter colors, like white and yellow, just one tiny change could entirely change the pigmentation of the entire filament batch.
Though we order our filament in bulk, we inevitably run out; meaning we may restock with a slightly different tone of white or yellow. We work closely with our filament manufacturing partners, but occasionally, there will be a noticeable color change between batches. We ensure that orders (and the TruScale Models 96-Piece Ultimate GSE Kit) contain the same color makeups—but note that orders placed at different times may receive different colors.
If this poses a problem, please feel free to contact us, and we can provide you a specific color!
